Faults we get called to.
- An RCD that trips, sometimes at the same time every day
- A circuit that is dead while everything else works
- Lights flickering, dimming or buzzing
- Sockets that are warm, scorched or smell hot
- Faults that only appear in the rain, or when a particular appliance runs
- Trips that started after other work was done in the property
How we find it.
- Talk through when it happens, which is often half the diagnosis
- Split the installation down circuit by circuit to isolate the fault
- Insulation resistance and continuity testing to locate it properly
- Check for water ingress, rodent damage, nail strikes and bad joints
- Repair on the spot where we can, from stock carried on the van
- Test the circuit afterwards and issue the appropriate certificate
- 01 Call Tell us what happens and when. It often points straight at the circuit.
- 02 Isolate We split the installation down until the fault is located, not guessed.
- 03 Repair Most faults are put right on the same visit from stock on the van.
- 04 Test The repaired circuit is tested and certified before we leave.
“They replied quickly to my enquiry, was available and costed up the project. It was then all completed to a very high standard and I was really happy with the outcome (adding power sockets and lights to my garage). Second time I've used them before and will definitely be using again when required.”
Why does my RCD keep tripping?
Usually a small earth leakage somewhere, often from an appliance, an outside light or a circuit that has taken water. Several small leakages can add up until the RCD trips. Testing tells you which circuit, rather than unplugging things one at a time for a fortnight.
Something has gone wrong now. How quickly can you come?
Call rather than use the form. We're listed as open 24 hours, most enquiries get a reply within a couple of hours, and our vans carry the stock to put most faults right on the first visit. Tell us what's happened and we'll be straight with you about how soon we can get there.
How is fault finding charged?
Fault finding is time-based work, because the time to locate a fault is not known until it is found.
Do you do repairs as well as diagnosis?
Yes. Our vans are stocked so most faults and breakdowns are rectified on the spot, rather than needing a second visit.
